AI is evolving our curriculum in two ways: through faculty use of AI within courses, and through courses that examine its impact.
Classroom
Our faculty incorporate applications into their courses in ways that fit the subject matter and their educational goals. Across our curriculum, AI is being used to deepen analysis, test assumptions, improve human-to-human collaboration, and prepare students for real-world decision-making.
As an example in accounting, Professor Elia Ferracuti designs a series of assignments that allow students to compare their own work directly against different forms of AI outputs, helping them understand where human judgment adds value and where AI can serve as a strategic partner. Students also work with custom chat bots which simulate challenging client workplace dynamics, requiring they make iterative data requests similar to those encountered in professional settings.
Because Fuqua values faculty innovation, there is no single model for how AI is used inside our courses. Instead, students experience a range of thoughtful approaches that in itself reflects the evolving role of AI within business disciplines.
Courses
Fuqua also offers courses that focus more directly on AI-related questions and challenges. These courses examine how AI works in a specific context, or the ways it is reshaping business, society, and the responsibilities of leadership.
For example, AI Footprint: Business, Sustainability, and Society, taught by Professor Dan Vermeer, explores AI as both an opportunity or ‘handprint’ – and a constraint, defined as ‘footprint.’ This course examines the environmental, social, and governance implications of AI systems – from energy and resource use to labor, regulation, and global power dynamics – while also evaluating how AI can drive positive impact across sectors. Through case discussions, scenario analysis, and leadership exercises, students develop the ability to make informed, responsible decisions in a world where AI is increasingly embedded in economic and institutional systems.
Benefits
Students graduate Fuqua fluent in using AI as a strategic tool in different contexts, while deeply understanding its limitations and broader implications. We’re focused on helping our students develop the judgment to determine when AI should be applied, how to collaborate effectively alongside it, and how to lead in environments where human insight and intelligent systems increasingly operate together.
Voices from the Classroom
“Our team used AI to test marketing messages, then compared results with traditional methods. It wasn’t just about the tool—it was about how we worked together to apply the insights.” – Daytime MBA student
